Wet Mix Macadam Plant (RWMM Series)

A road is only as good as the layer under the asphalt. The RWMM plant mixes graded aggregate and water continuously in a heavy-duty pugmill, so every truck that leaves carries the same uniform base material.

  • 120 to 300 TPH
  • Continuous pugmill
  • Gob hopper or storage silo
  • CTAB option

OVERVIEW

What Is a Wet Mix Macadam Plant?

Wet mix macadam (WMM) is a blend of graded crushed aggregates and water used for the base and sub-base layers of roads, below the bituminous surface. A WMM plant weighs the aggregates, adds water at a controlled rate and mixes them in a pugmill, so the material reaches site at the right moisture for compaction.

Rockmix RWMM plants produce homogeneous WMM, ABC, GSB and blanketing material for road and railway projects.

KEY FEATURES

Inside a Rockmix RWMM Plant

Continuous mixing plant

Material flows non-stop from feeder to discharge.

Heavy-duty four-bin feeder

20 to 40 m³ bin capacity, with a vibrator motor on the fine aggregate bin to keep sand flowing.

Heavy-duty oval pugmill

Twin shafts with 18 to 34 mixing arms give a uniform, homogeneous mix.

Two discharge variants

Gob hopper or 25-ton storage silo (25 or 50 ton on the 250 and 300 TPH models).

Hydraulic power pack

Operates the hopper and silo gates.

Cement addition option

The CTAB system adds cement for cement-treated base.

Low wear and tear

Wear parts go through stringent quality checks and wear tests.

Lower power use

Heavy-duty build with modest connected loads for the output.

HOW IT WORKS

From Aggregate Bins to Truck

Elevation, RWMM Series

Elevation drawing of the RWMM: four-bin feeder, gathering belt to the pugmill, long load-out conveyor up to a storage silo with a tipper parked underneath
  • Four-bin feeder
  • Gathering belt
  • Pugmill
  • Load-out conveyor
  • Silo / gob hopper
  1. 01

A loader fills the four bins with different aggregate sizes and sand.

  2. 02

Belt feeders draw each material in the right ratio onto the gathering belt conveyor.

  3. 03

The gathering belt carries the blend to the pugmill.

  4. 04

Water is pumped in at a controlled rate; with CTAB, cement is added by rotary valve.

  5. 05

The twin-shaft pugmill mixes the material continuously.

  6. 06

The load-out conveyor lifts the mix into the gob hopper or storage silo.

  7. 07

Tippers load from the hopper or silo and carry the mix to the paver.

CTAB SYSTEM

CTAB System for Cement-Treated Base

Cement Treated Aggregate Base (CTAB) is a base layer where a measured amount of cement is mixed into the aggregate for extra strength. Our optional CTAB unit adds cement to the RWMM plant without changing the main plant.

Integrated with the wet mix plant

Tuned for smooth, continuous operation.

Compact and modular

Saves space and installs easily next to the pugmill.

High-precision weighing

A rotary valve and load cell keep cement proportioning accurate.

Low maintenance

Keeps operating costs down.

FAQ

Wet Mix Macadam Plant: Common Questions

WBM (water bound macadam) is laid and watered in layers on site. WMM is premixed with water in a plant and laid in one go, which gives better compaction and a more uniform base.
